Fear of Failure Although the fear of failure is one of great anxiousness it is a lot more comforting than the feeling of regret, wondering what would have happened if you did take a gamble at. It brought to my mind how unpredictable life is, and how little time we have to make this world a better place with our lives. Many of us do not take the time to stop and pick up the bit of trash beside the sidewalk – someone else will do that, or so we hope. On a deeper level, how often do we put off acting on something that we know is the right thing to do, but we put it off until it’s a ‘better time?’ More often than not, that ‘better time’ never comes. Had I done what my instinct told me to do, I would have picked those mushrooms. What does that have to do with conservation you might ask? My only answer is that same old adage – you snooze, you lose. I did not take advantage of the opportunity to harvest those delicious mushrooms, so I lost.
